Aims
This module introduces the negative attitudes towards LGBTQI+ persons and the characteristics of oppression and violence they experience in different societal settings. This module looks at the different types of violence experienced by LGBTQI+ persons, including their most common experiences. It raises fundamental questions on how society treats their LGBTI+ members and what are the professionals’ competence in the subject.
After this module, learners will be able to:
- Understand the concept of basic rights and their violation
- Understand the impact oppression has on LGBTQI+ persons
- Be able to recognise the negative effects of oppression and violence
- Work on their understanding of victimization
